Job Summary

Work as part of a team to address social connection and hunger. Responsible for customer service, on-site meals representation and implementation, cleaning, receiving  inventory coordination, food storage organization, pantry stocking, garbage, and cardboard management. Responsible for collection of service usage data daily.

Compensation

  • Entry wage of $20.15 – $21.01 per hour, based on qualifications & experience.

  • More than 1 year of experience in poverty related services and professional interactions with people in poverty.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned.

Area 1: Social Connection Operations

  • Greet customers upon arrival.
  • Demonstrate a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
  • Serve as a host for social connection activities (includes on-site meals) as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of agency, donor, and customer issues.
  • Demonstrate and maintain professional boundaries with customers at all times.
  • Contribute to and support a welcoming environment and customer experience.
  • Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained.
  • Open and close Circles of Support office to the public as needed.
  • Collect service use and eligibility data from each customer daily.
  • Additional program related tasks assigned as assigned.

Area 2: Food Operations

  • Serve the public at Circles of Support food pantry.
  • Prepare supplies for Wednesday on-site meals, set up and clean up event. Package leftovers.
  • Restock coffee station and program related supplies daily.
  • Operate and clean popcorn machine per event.
  • Operate and clean propane grill per event.
  • Stock food pantries daily following inventory distribution protocols.
  • Remove expired refrigerated inventory daily.
  • Move and unbox dry and frozen inventory daily.
  • Ensure inventory is stored properly and organized.
  • Track and monitor refrigerator and freezer temperature logs.
  • Breakdown cardboard boxes. Remove cardboard and garbage daily.
  • Unload inventory from inventory deliveries.
  • Facilitate proper storage of refrigerated and frozen inventory on delivery days.
  • Receive and store food donations. Assist in unloading donations from vehicles, as necessary.
  • Open and close Circles of Support room to the public as needed.
  • Collect service use and eligibility data from each customer daily.
  • Deliver inventory to Koochiching County as assigned.
  • Additional program related tasks assigned as assigned.

Area 3: Assist Community Engagement Director

  • Ensure timely food safety and compliance postings
  • Communicate inventory status and needs.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Events preparation as assigned.
  • Data entry as assigned.

Area 4: Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of Circles of Support room including dishes, counter tops, appliances, sinks, floors, and coffee station.
  • Perform weekly cleaning and sanitizing of pantry refrigerators, freezers, and food storage areas.
  • Immediately clean spills or leaks from any food inventory item.
  • Perform other cleaning tasks as assigned.

Area 5: Safety & Security

  • Monitor patron whereabouts while on-site to ensure compliance with building security protocols.
  • Observe, monitor, and redirect patrons as necessary.
  • Monitor for and eliminate potential safety hazards to prevent accidents.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment. Report any unsafe conditions or behavior to the Community Engagement Director.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and current auto insurance coverage in compliance with Minnesota State guidelines on the vehicle used for work related travel.
  • Travel for completion of job duties, trainings and meetings as required.
