Job Summary

Responsible to assist auditors determining the needs of low-income household dwellings for health, safety, energy efficiency and rehabilitation according to Housing and Energy Program guidelines.

***This position is intended to serve as a 6-month training program with opportunity for permanent employment with the Agency. Training program will include on the job and outside trainings, and testing to obtain Home Energy Professional Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector Certifications. Permanent employment contingent on satisfactory job performance, and successful completion of Agency sponsored trainings and certification processes.***

Qualifications

  • Education, Knowledge, & Experience: 
    • High school diploma plus additional training or experience equal to two years college or vocational technical training in residential housing.
    • Computer experience with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
    • Preferred: 2000 hours verifiable building trades experience (framing, roofing, drywall, energy Audits, QCI inspections, plumbing, heating, etc.)
    • Preferred: Working knowledge of residential housing rehabilitation and specification writing.
    • Must have valid driver’s license and current auto insurance coverage in compliance with Minnesota State guidelines on the vehicle used for work related travel. Will require MVR Approval for use of agency vehicles.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability to organize and schedule work.
  • Ability to complete reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to learn and operate industry specific software proficiently.
  • Ability & willingness to enter into/under homes including attics and crawlspaces.
  • Ability to use ladders and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Requires sitting, standing, bending, stooping and reaching with sufficient manual dexterity to operate standard office machines and equipment used while conducting housing inspections and energy audits.
  • Requires travel, including site visits, overnight trainings and staff meetings.
  • Requires maintaining assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
