The Itasca Area Crisis Nursery is a family support program in our community designed to provide emergency or short-term care for children 0-12 years while families address crisis situations. A family crisis can be; work related, financial, due to housing issues, marital issues, or physical or mental health problems.
The Crisis Nursery may provide care overnight, several nights or for a portion of a day. The Program provides care through existing licensed childcare providers and licensed shelter homes. The Crisis Nursery services are a confidential and non-threatening resource for parents. There are no income guidelines and care can be provided for up to 48 consecutive hours.
At the Crisis Nursery immediate family needs are assessed and referral assistance is provided to connect the family with community services such as parent support groups, counseling, parent education classes, housing resources, legal assistance and respite childcare. Our Crisis Nursery has caring staff and volunteers who help families work through problems and focus on solutions.
