Circles of Support is built on the concept of increasing the social capital. Low-income participants benefit from the social and business connections of their allies and the larger Circles of Support community.

Too many local families are stuck in low paying jobs and do not have the support they need to move past this stage. Working poor: individuals and families who maintain regular employment but remain in poverty due to low levels of pay and dependent expenses.

There will never be enough state and federal resources to help all of the people in our community leave poverty.

Friendship and Subsidy
Friendship: co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more humans Subsidy: type of financial assistance provided by government, state, or county entities While both are needed, we believe friendship does more to move people out of poverty.

Building Social Capital Changes Lives
"Circles of Support is like a family. When I’m having a bad day or the road gets too tough, I have a shoulder to lean on and lots of people to cheer me on." ~ Circles of Support Participant

"I get so much enjoyment in return for volunteering my time to Circles of Support. All I have to do is be a friend to some people in my community who are struggling and I don’t have to do anything that I am not comfortable with." ~ Circles of Support Ally
